You must have a valid passport before coming to Ghana to serve Ryvanz-Mia Childcare. For those who have a passport, you need to confirm its expiry date. Also, you need to note that processing a new one takes several weeks.

We advise you to use only the reputable travel agents. Also, remember to check layover times and seat assignments. 

Do i need a visa for travel to Ghana?

Yes,all volunteers must have a B2 Visa to travel as a visitor to Ghana. It is strongly advised that applications and passports are submitted for processing two weeks to one month prior to the date of departure. 

Submit the following documents to the Embassy:

  • A completed  and signed Visa Application form (available online from Ghana Embassy website) which include the following information

  • Names and Addresses of references and/ Accommodation in Ghana- An  invitation letter from Ryvanz-Mia.Please contact us.

  • Minors and children under the age of 18 years traveling to Ghana need parents written authorization including copies of Parents' Passports and Residence Permit as well as a copy of the Child's birth certificate.

  • Passport must be valid for at least (6) six months to expiration

  • Two (2) recent passport-sized photographs of the applicant (taken not more than six months prior to application) and showing full face of applicant, without hat, cap and sun glasses

  • Present a Photocopy of your round trip ticket OR Travel Itinerary

  • Copy of U.S. Permanent Residence Card, Student ID Card or a valid U.S. Work Visa (if you are in the US).

  • In addition to original passport, all applicants are required to attach a photocopy of the bio-data page of their passports to completed forms.

More Travel Information:


Delta, KLM, Lufthansa, and British Airways flights to Accra, Ghana. Check online for the cheapest tickets that match your day of travel. We advise all volunteers to book flights at least two months in advance to avoid paying so much for tickets. As an organization, we do not help with visas but will provide you with all the necessary documents that the embassy will need to process the visa. 


Airport pickup:

   The name of the airport is Kotoko International Airport in Accra, Ghana. All volunteers traveling to Ryvanz-Mia Childcare will be welcomed by a staff of RMC at the arrival hall with their name and our logo. RMC is located four to five hours drive from Accra. Since you will arrive in Accra late evening, it's a good idea to stay overnight before continuing your journey to Kpando by bus. We offer to pick you up at the airport to pay for transportation and hotel accommodation. 

Insurance (optional):

   This is optional for volunteers, but it advisable you purchase suitable travel insurance before departure. 

Visa Information:

All volunteers traveling to Ghana must apply for a visa through the Ghanaian embassy in your country before traveling. Please ensure your application must reach the embassy within one month before departure due to the high volume of work.

   Consult your doctor well before departure to get the necessary vaccinations. Vaccination is required before traveling to Ghana. Discuss with your doctor about ways and steps to prevent malaria.

Ghana Currency:


In Ghana, our currency is called cedis. You are allowed to bring Euros or Dollars after declaring at your port entry which can be converted into Cedis when you come to Ghana. We recommend you get a Visa card. (Notify your bank while traveling to Ghana with your visa card.)
